After you are done reading this post, you will click on the link below and begin your journey (with an assigned partner) to learning about the first ever Thanksgiving! I'm sure you've learned about this several times before. But have you ever learned about the first Thanksgiving in an interactive way on the computer?
You will have an opportunity to read, be read to, look at photos, watch videos, and more! This will be fun! The teachers will keep you accountable (help you be sure you are learning) by giving you an assignment to do as you go on your journey. You and your partner are responsible for good, solid work between the two of you. We want you to discuss and learn together. Be helpful and kind to one another. Work together as the Wampanoags and the Pilgrims did. If you work together, you will accomplish so much more than fighting.
Be sure you take turns writing on the assignment. I suggest you alternate (take turns) writing each class period. Both of you should be reading, listening to the reading, watching the videos and looking at the pictures. That means you will have to share the computer! You can do this.
Start at the PICTURES and VIDEOS tab. Your teacher will show a video.
Click on the MAYFLOWER tab and take the journey and tour the ship.
Click on the DAILY LIFE tab and read about all the differences between the Pilgrims and Wampanoags.
Click on THE FEAST tab and view the slideshow of the first ever feast.
Click on HISTORICAL LETTERS tab and listen to the letters the Pilgrims and Wampanoags wrote.
*When you have finished your journey, look over your assignment to be sure you wrote answers in for every question that was asked.
Turn your assignment in to one of the four teachers when you are done. You will get completion points for working hard and answering questions. You will also get points for working together and following the LYNX WAY as you work. Teachers will be handing out tickets. Good luck and have fun! Are you ready?
