After you select your book (must be a chapter book) begin reading your book during class and at home. This book should be a book you have not already read.  Once the book has been read, begin the diorama written report which will be given to you by your teacher right after you complete the book.  The diorama book report will consist of two parts:
1. A box decorated like a favorite scene from your book
2. A written summary (beginning, middle, end) of the book and a written                        explanation of the scene you chose to display.

DIRECTIONS:

Part 1 – Written Report:
          Your written report will consist of a written (typed is fine) summary and a paragraph that also explains the scene you chose to display.  You will also need to proofread your writing and be sure it is free of grammar errors.
         
Part 2 – Diorama Book Report Scene:
·         Get a shoe box that is approximately 12x6x4 (does not have to be exact size)
·         Line the inside of your box with construction paper, decorative paper, or paint
·         Add details to the walls of the box using paper, paint, or anything creative
·         Create your favorite scene from the book by using any type of materials: paper, clay, play-doh, foil, twigs, pebbles, Legos, dolls, and other objects
·         Put the title and the author where it is visible on the top of the box
·         Be creative and have fun!

Grading:  You will be graded in the following matter:
Diorama: 20 points
·         Artwork: Interior scene contains BOTH background scene and 3D objects (10 points)
·         Effort:  Work demonstrates the student’s best effort, time taken, and creativity (5 points)
·         Top: Displays Title of book and author (5 points)

Written Report: 20 points
·         Effort: Each section of the written report must be accurate and thoughtful with complete sentences. (15 points)
·         Grammar: Student writing is grammatically correct. (5 points)


**The overall point total for this project is 40 points. **
