Shoe Box Scene

Shoe box scenes for our recent novel, The War that Saved my Life, are due on Thursday, January 3rd.  Please bring them to school that day and we will set them up in an empty classroom.

Students:  In the case that you left your requirements sheet at home please read the following:

You must create a scene from The War that Saved my Life in a shoe box.  I'd like for this to be a scene that means something to you.  Perhaps it was an emotional scene or a scene that you were able to picture in your mind clearly.  The goal is for you to show me how you visualized that scene while we read the story.  Visuals are powerful, so make yours eye catching.

Be sure to have a foreground and background.  I do not want the cardboard shoe box showing on the inside at all.  You can paint it, use paper or anything else you can imagine.  Be resourceful and find things around your house to make this out of.  If you buy materials, that is of your own choosing.

On a note card, write a paragraph telling us what is happening in your scene.  Use the characters names and be clear in your telling.  Then, tell us why you chose to portray this specific scene.  Maybe you had a personal connection to this scene or you just felt strong emotions during this scene.  Articulate your thoughts and feelings, please.

You will be graded on your effort in creating a visual and also your writing and ability to articulate.

I can't wait to see these!  See you soon...
