After you read chapters one and two, respond to the following questions in your Reading Journal.
1. How does Annemarie behave around the German soldiers? How does Kirsti? Why might the sisters behave so differently? (Answer all three parts of that question.)
2. Think about the fantasy world of the fairy tale that Annemarie tells Kirsti, and compare it to the reality of the world the girls are living in. Why might Kirsti especially need to hear a fairy tale? Why might the fairy tale also be comforting to Annemarie?
When you finish journal writing, continue to read chapters 3 and 4. Stop before you read chapter 5. We will read that together tomorrow.
